Project Overdrive | 2026
Project Overdrive is an expanded first-person shooter experience that evolved from a top-down shooter base into a more polished and feature-rich game through the addition of 15 new gameplay mechanics, systems, and player-focused improvements.
As a key contributor and leader during development, I helped establish the project foundation, guided the team through major transitions, coordinated tasks, and developed systems such as the minimap to enhance player navigation and overall experience.
The goal of the project?
The goal of Project Overdrive was to expand and improve multiple base game experiences throughout development by introducing new gameplay mechanics, improved systems, and additional player-focused features. The project evolved through several stages, beginning with a top-down shooter and later transitioning into a first-person shooter experience with significant gameplay additions.
My contributions to the project
Project Foundation
During the initial top-down shooter phase, I handled a large portion of early development work and helped establish the project’s foundation. I focused on organizing the workflow, planning gameplay objectives, and setting a strong direction before the rest of the team became more involved.
Leadership & Transition
As the team transitioned to a first-person shooter base game, I stepped into a leadership role to guide development. I coordinated tasks, supported team communication, maintained organization, and helped direct the team toward completing our development goals efficiently.
Feature Expansion
During the final expansion phase, I contributed to adding 15 new gameplay improvements. I developed a mini-map system to enhance player navigation and awareness, and began building the main menu system before transitioning it to another team member to keep momentum going.
My favorite part of the project
One of my most important contributions to Project Overdrive was helping guide the project through multiple development transitions while maintaining organization and momentum. By taking initiative during early development, leading the team during the transition to the FPS base game, and contributing new gameplay systems during the final phase, I helped ensure the team remained productive and focused throughout development.
The project outcome
By the end of development, Project Overdrive successfully transformed from an initial top-down shooter concept into an expanded first-person shooter experience featuring 15 new gameplay additions and system improvements. Through leadership, collaboration, and iterative development, the team created a more polished and engaging gameplay experience with improved functionality, stronger teamwork, and enhanced player interaction systems.
